Access & notes
Inside is almost total darkness. We keep a lit route and a rest room you can return to at any time. Please tell staff at the entrance.
We use no flashing lights. There are no sharp changes in light, including during the maintenance moment.
You may re-enter as often as you like on the same day. Short rests in the rest room are free.
Flash is not allowed, to protect the creatures and the observation of other visitors.
Questions
Is it really dark inside?
Yes. Interior illuminance is held at 0.002 lux, because light-making creatures do not show their true form in a bright tank. Your observation lamp is handed to you at the door.
Can I bring children?
We recommend ages 13 and up. To keep the dark and the quiet intact, we suggest a daytime aquarium for younger children.
How long does it take?
A standard visit is about 90 minutes. There is no time limit, and re-entry is allowed the same day.
Do I need to book?
Yes — a set date and time, in advance. Each time slot is limited to 40 visitors.
Is food allowed inside?
Please do not eat or drink on the observation floor. A drinks machine is available in the rest room.
